Changing insight mgr passwd after hardening
Hi,
Previously when when i install and access the insight manager web console, we use the acct administrator/passwd. After hardening, we had to rename the administrator id to admin123, but we can't login to the insight mgr using admin123/passwd. However, when we rename back from admin123 to administrator, we can login. How to we change the setting within insight mgr to allow admin123?

Re: Changing insight mgr passwd after hardening
Whether in IM7 or hpSIM, the application has to be told a valid user name so when logging in it can validate against Windows with that username and the password that is entered. If you change the name of 'administrator' to 'admin123' locally or at the domain, IM7/hpSIM doesn't know about the change and it still is looking for someone to login as 'administrator.' If you try to login as 'administrator,' it's going to fail because now it can't validate against the OS.
Before making the change, get into the security section and add any other valid user name that IM7/hpSIM can properly validate against the OS. This account does not have to be a local or domain administrator, just any account. However, you have to give this login administrative priveleges in IM7/hpSIM.
Rename your 'administrator' to 'admin123' and then login to IM7/hpSIM with the alternate account that you added. You now can change the user in your management app to 'admin123.' You can either delete the alternate user or leave it.
