CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS...ON WINDOWS XP

Hi, I have IM 4.2 installed in windows XP SP1, with MSDE locally, but when trying to start IM using the desktop icon created during setup, appears a message saying "CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS" and the counter goes on, and on....

I need some help here.

I reinstalled IM, and also MSDE but get the same problem.

Re: CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS...ON WINDOWS XP

If this is a new install you may want to start with HPSIM 5.0.
Check for any XP Firewall issues. It may not be getting the response back because of some port blocking.
Check the HPSIM Information Library, I vaguely recall there being something regarding XP SP1. Could be wrong on that though!

Re: CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS...ON WINDOWS XP

Here is the solution. Check if the SNMP service and SNMP trap service are running. If either of these service is stopped then HPSIM service doesnot comeup.

Re: CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS...ON WINDOWS XP

Hi, well I verify that the SNMP service and SNMP trap service are started, but the problem continues...
Rob: thanks, I'll check the firewall issue, I'll check the Information Library also.
Do you know if HP SIM 5 can be downloaded from the web?

Had a similar problem in my early stages tird to restart the machine also restarted the SIM services from the Administrative Tools, and lastly didnt read anything if u have installed JAVA PLUG-IN? That could also be an issue.

Yes, HPSIM can be downloaded from the web from the following URL. http://www.hp.com/go/hpsim

Re: CHECKING HTTP SERVER STATUS...ON WINDOWS XP

I followed the recommendations and at last the problem was solved strating the SNMP trap Service.
The problem was also that there was a Group Policy applied to the XP workstation restricting the local administrator group, then the account used to install SIM was removed from the local administrator group.

Thanks all of you.
