Clear HP SIM Events Log- Is it best practice?
We are running HP SIM 5.2
I would like to know if it is recommended best practice to clear all the HP SIM event logs that have occurred over the past years and leave only the events in the current three months. We have events dated back to two years ago for the critical, major, minor, warnings and informational events.

Re: Clear HP SIM Events Log- Is it best practice?
Hi Mathew,
It actually depends upon your HP SIM setup. If CMS has too many devices to monitor and events are piling up every day in hundreds or thousands, then increasing database size can slow down your SIM performance. Also, if you have any other monitoring/alerting tool where you are forwarding the events for logging purpose then also old SIM events would become redundant.
Analyse and decide yourself whether you should setup cleanup on yearly basis or monthly. But cleanup is good for administrators :)

Ashutosh
