We've just setup our first Windows Cluster which will be used for a Microsoft SQL2005 Cluster. Just wondering about SIM monitoring and how clustering integrates with SIM.
Many thanks,
Jon

SolutionOn each node in the cluster, there will be an HP utility in the Control Panel. In that utility, make sure you have the "Cluster Agents" enabled. Then add each node to HP SIM, then the cluster network names to SIM. SIM should automatically associate the nodes to the cluster name and you should see all 3 in SIM.
SIM will report various cluster related issues such as cluster resources being down, nodes restarting, etc. (along with the normal individual server alerts you would recieve in a non-cluster environment).

Re: Clustering and SIM Monitoring
One problem is that one of my nodes (The Primary one with that is owning the cluster resource group), the cluster name is taking over that server.
E.g. Physical nodes ares CLUSTER1 and CLUSTER2
The Cluster name is CLUSTER64
And whenever I discover CLUSTER64 in SIM it renames CLUSTER1 to CLUSTER64, I don't have all three in there.

Re: Clustering and SIM Monitoring
After reading through some older threads I found the answer.
Thank you to Karim H from the other thread for the response!

Re: Clustering and SIM Monitoring
I have been reading through the forums and googling for ever, with no luck.
I have a fresh install of SIM (5.3) with PSP 8.10 installed on the servers.
I have done the following:
1.Checked the â Cluster Informationâ is active under Management Agents
2.Added the reg key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Compaq\CompaqCommonClusterAgent]
3.Checked the cluster DLL at C:\windows\system32\svrclu.dll
4.Checked the version of the DLL on systems that are working
5.Checked the SNMP, IP and Community string
6.Removed and re-discovered the nodes and then the cluster management all via IP address
7.Updated the iLO and M/B firmware to the latest
I have found that even though all the software, hardware and firmware are the same, when I compare the SMH of the three node cluster only one reports cluster information. Having said that, on the second three node cluster that is working and reporting to SIM none of the SMH report cluster information.
Any! help would be most appreciated
Regards
Andrew
