Compaq IM 7 and Insight Agents
Hey all -
My first post...
I recently inherited the task of getting our Insight Manager 7 service working again (it hadn't been working since last October), and was wondering if we're missing much by staying at Compaq IM7, while we are constantly deploying new servers (Proliant, mostly) with the latest version of the Insight Agents.
Right now, all of our server machines have either version 6.x or 7.x of the Insight Agents. Would it be best to install the latest Insight Agents on all the servers, then point them to a new HPSIM server?
I just don't want to try to spend a lot of time getting the older stuff working if it might be better to upgrade to the latest and greatest.

Re: Compaq IM 7 and Insight Agents
One of my Administrators for our SAP system, still runs his Insight Manager 7 system at his desk. I have HPSIM 4.2 running as well on a server, but he chooses to use what he has been using for the last 5 years on those servers.
The web version of 7 I did not like the interface. The newer HPSIM is much nicer interface and better access to the information in comparison.
I run HPSIM 4.2 on a dedicated server, and have all my snmp traps going to it. The SAP systems have traps going to both systems.
You can bring up HPSIM 4.2 and still keep the version 7 running and decide which one you like better.
