COMPLAINT - Operator Unable to Clear Events

HP Systems Insight Manager, 4.2 SP1 and 4.1 SP1. I am aware that many others have mentioned this issue in the forums. Obviously, this is a necessity in any IT organization that does not wish to give their operators admin rights, just to clear events. I am posting this thread in the hopes that HP will issue a fix as soon as possible. HP Systems Insight Manager is an invaluable tool, but this is a HUGE limitation.

Other users out there who have the same complaint, post to this thread. Hopefully if enough customers complain, HP will give this issue the immediate attention it deserves.

Hi, we have 100% the same problem. We have 25 operators and they must have only operator rights.

This issue has come up before so I pushed a little harder this time. I wish I could say that it was a definite decision to do it this way, but it appears to be more of an oversight.

There is an undocumented way that a limited rights user could be given the ability to BOTH CLEAR AND DELETE events, but there is no ability to define it to be able clear and not delete. This will have to wait for a future release. Unfortunately, more than likely it will not make it into the next release but will have to wait for the following update.

The change request has been submitted, so everyone should feel good about being able to have a direct and definite impact on the direction of HP SIM.

Thanks very much David. Could you provide me with the undocumentated way to CLEAR and DELETE events? At this time, we are not too concerned with keeping event history, but we would really like to give our operators the rights to clear events.

I am reply to the Thread to COmplain for the same issue. Not able to clear events it makes administrate the server a confusing procudure.

Thank you David. The undocumented fix has worked great. I have successfully deployed to half the enterprise with no problems.
