Configure ESX hosts in HPSIM 5.2
Hi,
I'm trying to register ten esx hosts in HPSIM and I have different problems in each one. In some of them I have a VMM communication error. In others I have java error. In others don't recognize the serial number.....
Yesterday,in the HPSIM console appeared my virtuale machine hosts by name. Today I can only list or find them by IP and I don't know why....
Can anyone explain me step by step this processi please?
My steps are:
1/install and configure Wbem and SSH.
2/deploy VMM
3/Identify system to recongize the new installation.
4/license
5/Register

Re: Configure ESX hosts in HPSIM 5.2
Name resolution is done via DNS, both forward and reverse lookups need to be valid otherwise you'll get just the IP address listed.
From the above it looks like you're using WBEM / SSH to identify the host - not sure how well this works.
Identification can also be done via snmp which in turn can be configured when you install the HP Management agents - these are different to the VMM Agents.
Note also with VMM, depending on how you installed them a certificate gets installed. If you did it all via HPSIM using SSH then the certificate should be installed. I manually install the VMM Agents and certificate, I don't rely on SSH.

What are the pros/cons of doing it that way, as opposed to SSH?
