Configure or Repair Agents - Administrator Credentials Problem
I have 2 servers in my SIM console showing up as System Type Unknown. One of them, is actually the server that the SIM 4.1SP2 console is installed on. From the SIM console I have run configure or repair Agents and it complains with the Major error:-
"HP Systems Insight Manager was unable to connect to the target using the provided username and password. Please recheck the administrator credentials before running this task again."
This message is bogus as the Administrator credentials are most definitely correct, else the SIM console just wouldn't work at all. How can my SIM console server not even recognise itself as a W2K3 server?
Thanks
Lenny

Re: Configure or Repair Agents - Administrator Credentials Problem
I've had similar symptoms, not exact, but I was able to resolve it by re-installing the management agents on teh SIM server manually - IE: Un-install the management agents thru Add/Remove Programs - reboot, then re-install them by executing the cp007669.exe (latest version) from my repository directory, then reboot again. Note: in my SIM server - unlike other servers - it seems to take a good 10mintues after a reboot for all the HP Agents to load up properly. I don't know if that's because of HPSIM, or some of the other services I have on that server . . . ??? just an observation. - hope this helps! Y

Re: Configure or Repair Agents - Administrator Credentials Problem
Well first of all I re-installed the whole support pack and ticked the overwrite newer or up to date version box. This didn't actually fix it but it fixed another problem I had about the server saying I had certain hardware installed which I didn't. I then uninstalled and re-installed the agents only and re-ran the software discovery which seemed to finally pick up the server as a W2K3 server.
However it didn't fix the Configure or Repair Agents problem but now it's not recorded as unknown I'n not too bothered.
Thanks
Lenny
