Connecting to Remote SQL Database
I've attached a jpeg showing the exact message I get when trying to connect to a remote SQL server database. I have another CMS connected to this very db instance; and I have MDAC 2.8 installed on this server.
I've tried typing the server name\instance with CAPS, a forward slash, a colon....no luck. What am I missing?

Re: Connecting to Remote SQL Database
I've only ever entered the Server name, you seem to have Server\something else.
What do you mean you already have another CMS connected to the db instance. Are you saying tehre's already a live HPSIM Database on that SQL Server instance?
I'm not too sure that's supported but other HP folk may want to comment.

Re: Connecting to Remote SQL Database
The text following the server name is the SQL named instance.
Unfortunately, our network is segmented into 3 levels (Client, Extranet and Supernet) all separated by firewalls with many rules.
My plan was to install a CMS on each segment and have them all report to the same database. I've got 2 CMS's installed and talking just fine, but I can't get the 3rd one to talk to the SQL db.
Anyone have advice for me? Thanks.
