Recently started applying Windows 2003 SP1 to LIVE servers and noticed that HP Insight Manager was having problems with unknown SNMP device against upgraded servers. Newly built servers with SP1 were OK.

Appears to be a problem with the older MGMT Agents so upgraded to 7.4 and notice the high cpu usage so far on DL 360 G2 model servers.

Just spoke with HP and tried to resolve by adding the agent into the DEP tab of performance settings but did not work so HP suggested a Microsoft article for modifying the boot.ini 875352??

Don't know about you but seems a strange one to suggest!

For info I checked a recently built Server which was built with SP1 which was working fine and the managment agent was v7.20 so I applied this to a recently upgradeed SP1 server which then had agent v7.40 applied and experienced the high cpu usage and all seems to be working without issue i.e. no unknown SNMP device and no high cpu usage.

This was a G3 DL360

I was given notice of this issue, but it sparks a new issue: does this issue also apply to the 7.40.10 agent. I assume so as there is no information to the contrary.

Anyone knows?

I have a DL380 with the same problem. In my case, setting 'Remote Insight Information' as an Inactive Agent in the control panel applet fixed the problem.
