creating host file for discovering multiple servers
Can someone explain to me how to create this file.. Do I really need the IP address AND the server name? since you only need the server name when discovering one machine.. I entered two server names in the sample host file and then clicked ok and I cannot see that one was created.
Thanks in advance for your input

Re: creating host file for discovering multiple servers
Jeff,
I just went through the same thing. Yes you do seem to need the IP and machine name for the Host file discovery to work.
The format that worked for me was:
IPaddress MachineName.domain.com MachineName
However, I am having some issues discovering all of my systems, it discovered some but not all. Seems to be no corrolation between the discovered systems. If you run across this and find a solution let me know.
Thanks.

Re: creating host file for discovering multiple servers
Chris, thanks for the help. I think it is sad that you can perform a manual discovery on one system with just a name or IP but to do multiple you need all this info.. Anyway thanks. I will keep my eyes open for you other issue.
