Creating new SIM server with SIM server certificate
Hi there,
We came at the point that our old SIM server hardware must be replaced by new hardware.
A simple thought is to keep the SIM server certificate on all managed nodes and to replace the server certificate on the new SIM server by the certificate from the old SIM server.
After some Internet browsing how to achieve this I found only solutions that set up a new SIM server, replacing the trusted certficate on all managed nodes SMH's.
Is there a way to only replace/add the old SIM server certicate on the new server, so I have to do nothing on the managed nodes SMH's?
Thanks for your help,
Perry.

Re: Creating new SIM server with SIM server certificate
See the following thread, it's how I've done it. Others have used the replicate settings functionality. I've had issues replicating certificates as often the Trust relationship has broken down.

Re: Creating new SIM server with SIM server certificate
Hi Rob,
Thanks for your suggestion.
The only difficulty is that we are in a multidomain environment (about 30 Windows NT domains) that don't trust each other.
In other words I have to replicate 30 times with other credentials...
I thought to work around this problem by simply let the managed nodes "think" the SIM management server hasn't changed by using the old SIM server's certificate in the new one. So was actually searching for a solution that replaces the new SIM server's certificate by that from the old.
Any suggestions how to accomplish this?
Or impossible?
Cheers,
Perry.

Re: Creating new SIM server with SIM server certificate
See page 3 in this doc for where the certificates are stored, so they can be restored.
