CSP 4.70A on systems with multiple IP Addresses
I am in the process of upgrading all servers (mixture of Server 2000 and Server 2003 boxes) with CSP 7.40A. However I have come across a problem on servers that have multiple IP Addresses. Problem is that the System Management Page is not available on the primary IP Address but only on the last IP address listed. Hence when I attempt to connect to servers' System Management Page through SIM I get error message that the page is not available.
However if I logon to the box and attempt to access the page using local_host IP Address or the last IP address listed the page comes up.
I never used to have this problem while running CSP 7.30A. The problem will occur on both Server 2000 and Server 2003 boxes.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: CSP 4.70A on systems with multiple IP Addresses
What I had to do is remove the server from SIM all together and add it again using IP address rather than server name, its secondary IP Address that is. Once I did that I changed the System Link Configuration settings to Use the system IP address and it's working. However as far as SIM is concerned now the secondary IP address is primary and primary is secondary (hope it makes some sense)
Here is more details. Let's say that I have a server by the name WS2K3 and it has following IP Addresses:
- 172.25.208.20 - Primary IP Address
- 172.25.214.241
- 172.25.214.242
- 172.25.214.243
- 172.25.214.244 - Last secondary IP Address
The System Management Page is available only via 172.25.214.244 IP Address or 127.0.0.1
If I attempt to use the primary IP Address, 172.25.208.20 which is DNS registered I get "The page cannot be displayed" message. The problem is that the SIM is always using primary IP to talk to the server so having secondary IP address registered in SIM does not help. So as already mentioned I removed the server from SIM all together and added it again using its secondary IP address (172.25.214.244) and modified the System Link Configuration settings to Use the system IP address and is working happily.
However if you change System Link Configuration settings to either Use the system name or Use the system's full DNS name it wont work.
It's still bugging me why it does not work when using systems true primary IP address when it used to work with CSP 7.30A
Cheers
