Customizing HP SIM System Lists

Customizing HP SIM System Lists

When i first installed HP SIM, I was able to create custom lists of remote sites that contained specific servers. Now when creating lists, I select the specific server, save and then when I execute the list I get all Systems instead? Anyone see this yet? I was creating a list within systems where the system name is a specific server.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

Can you explain to me how you are creating the list? What rea the steps that you are following?

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

In the systems lists column, i choose customize. I created a new folder to hold all my new lists then clicke on the New List... button. I then searched in systems where the system name is equal to a server name. I saved the list in the previously created public folder. The creation is completed and indicated as successful. I then click on the new list and I recieve all my servers not just the ones specified during the creation of this list.

Russell:

Can you look at a list of all servers, click the check box of one you want and 'Save as...' to get a query that works? If you edit that, does it look any different than what you were trying to do?

Same result.

Russell,

I had a similar issue. When you go back in and try to edit the list you created, what happens?

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

Instead of "is equal to" just choose "is". That should fix the issue.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

Go back and edit the system list and change the middle column from "is equal to" to only "is" then click on save.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

This list was originally setup using "is" and not "is equal to". When I go back and try and edit the list, no servers are available, essentially nothing is available to edit.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

delete the list you created and create a new one with the parameters that we spoke about. If you're still not seeing the devices names, then you may have to re-run the automatic discovery again.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

I have deleted all created lists and tried to create a test list. Same problem. I have also submitted an auto-discovery and had no luck.

Re: Customizing HP SIM System Lists

Rusell,

It sounds much like the problem I was having. When I tried to edit the list my results appeared the same. I also received a javascript error. To see the error I had to click on the error icon (an exclamation point on a white background) in the lower left of the IE window. It pointed to a "firstchild" error.
