Data Protector traps

Hi everyone,

I´m trying the new hp systems insight manager on W2K. Everything works so far fine.
I´m also trying to configure Data Protector (W2K Cell-Server) to send traps. I configured the SNMP service, testet traps from insight agents. Everything works. But I do not see any traps from Data Protector.

Had anybody already success? I´m thankfull for any advice.

Re: Data Protector traps

You might want to change the Events Filter Settings in SIM to Accept Unregistered Events.

See if it appears there.

Also, there used to be a restriction in the old CIM 7 that it would only accept V1 SNMP Traps, not sure what SIM does in this case.

Re: Data Protector traps

Hi,

I already allowed unregistered traps, but all I see is that Insight Manager receives unregistered events. In the event is no further information about the event. The string shows that it is a data protector trap.

There should be a possibility to configure Insight 7 in a way to do so, shouldn´t it?

Bye

Re: Data Protector traps

That's where the MIBs come in.
You'd need to register a suitable MIB into IM.

Then, IM will be able to translate the SNMP trap that it gets and present the appropriate text.

See if Data Protector have some MIBs available, download and then upload into IM. You mention IM 7, all of the SNMP / MIB handling is done under the tools tab.
