DCOM Errors in Event Log with Event ID 10009

DCOM Errors in Event Log with Event ID 10009

We are getting loads (every few seconds) of the above errors in the event log and think it is to do with SIM. Has anyone else had this problem, if so how do you cure it. Have searched Microsoft Site but no answers there.

Thanks

Re: DCOM Errors in Event Log with Event ID 10009

I'm running a home network, all XP, and am seeing staggering numbers of these DCOM 10009 errors in the system event log on my desktop machine, trying to establish a connection to a machine with a remote printer.

All firewalls permit full connections between these machines.

Anyway to (a) identify the exact program making these continuing connection requests, and (b) fix the problem that's preventing the connections?

Re: DCOM Errors in Event Log with Event ID 10009

Saw that, not helpful.

The issue was simple -- turn off the Norton AV 2005 "Worm Protection" firewall on the other machine and enable the Windows XP firewall.

I had configured Norton 2005 to permit all connections from the local subnet, but evidently that didn't work.

So no more Norton firewall, and no more DCOM errors.
