Discovering systems with multiple IP addresses on SIM 5.0
How do I get SIM 5.0 to identify the IP addresses as belonging to one system, rather than creating orphan systems?
Strangely, it has worked automatically for one server, but has failed for three others. All the systems are running the latest agents.
I have tried deleting all the systems, and using manual discovery to add them (adding each IP address), but I end up with three correctly identifed systems, which the automatic discovery then reverts back to orphans.
I want one system, with three IP addresses, how can I do it?
Ben.

Re: Discovering systems with multiple IP addresses on SIM 5.0
I've tried repeated Automatic Discoveries, with the same result - the orphas just stay there.
Obviously as the IP addresses all point to the same machine the SNMP/agent settings are all the same.

Re: Discovering systems with multiple IP addresses on SIM 5.0
1) Create an XML file like the one in the example attached (replace "example" with the system name as it appears in SIM) and put all IP addresses that you want for this system in the file.
2) Run "mxnode -m -f example.xml" in a command window.
3) Wait about a minute before the changes appear in the SIM web interface.

Dmitri
