I have CMS on a server and want to know when a threshold is met on other servers, ie through email (SMTP)?
SIM does recognise the other server, but when I set a threshold for a target system and error "need to establish a trust relationship" comes up. How do I resolve this?

SolutionHP SIM 4.1 is a quite old version...I would advise you to update to the latest version HP SIM 5.2.2. One of the latest improvments of the 5.x version is Configure and repair agent feature.
This feature has been put inplace to resolve the issue you are describing.
To fix the issue without upgrading, you will need to connect to the System management homepage of the managed system and configure the trust relationship between the CMS and the managed node. From the system management homepage, go in the setting tabs, security and trust relationship. Select trust by cerificate, and select the HP SIM server as a trusted server to import its certificate onto the managed node. The certificate will be used to authentificate the CMS to the managed node.
Once done, the tools should work.
Then you will need to create an automatic event handling task to send an email when recieving a trap from a managed node. This will be a threshold passed trap type of event.
Hope it helps
