DNS Name Resolution for different DNS Server

Hi there,

we are running different AD's in our environment. Every Active Directory has it's own DNS server. One AD has the SIM server.

I want to discovery everything in the AD's automatically - but I cannot get the DNS names of servers and ILO's in the other AD's.
The servers and ILO's appearing with their IP-Adress after a discovery.

Thanks for any help.

Re: DNS Name Resolution for different DNS Server

Hi Mel,

I had problems with the name resolution, too. It all depends on the name resolution your SIM server can give you.
If you log on to your SIM server and do a ping -a 1.2.3.4 the IP address must be resolved to an name. As soon as it does, run "discovery" once in SIM and the name should appear there, too.
Helpful: DNS reverse lookup zone, ipconfig /flushdns, a hosts file.

Cheers
