emails stopped working

emails stopped working

We are running HP SIM 4.1 with sp1.

Emails were working fine up to 2 weeks ago, i.e we were getting email/smtp alerts from machines.

Is there a log file on the management console I can check? Is it likely to be the SMTP gateway server that is the problem?

I fired up management agents on a managed server and sent a test trap, we all got a generic email so its working from managed server.

I get this message in options, manage tasks:

Sending failed; javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: sumgat01.oxfam.org.uk, port: 25; java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: connect

Hi Peter,

"javax.mail.MessagingException" and "java.net.SocketException" --> it seems that sumgat01.oxfam.org.uk, port: 25 is un-reachable.

Did you change something on managed server that caused sumgat01.oxfam.org.uk, port: 25 un-reachable?
If it ain't Boeing, I'm not going... :-)

do you have maafee virus enterprise 8.0 installed? this will block SNMP

yes we have just installed macfee, which incidently if I remember was about the time the emails stopped.

will investigate and assign points if this is relevant.
