ESX managed system, dead NIC not displayed

ESX managed host, with v7.1.2 agent installed. I logged in to the MUI and discovered this system has a dead NIC. But I have a green status under 'HW' on my SIM console. If I drill down into the system details in SIM, it displays the bad NIC as failed/degraded i.e. orange X. My problem/question is, why doesn't this major device status appear in the System Summary display (which would also trigger an event notification.) I have notifications set up and it works on other hosts. Seems to be a disconnect between the SIM console (which doesn't detect a hardware problem for this ESX host) and the managed system agent (which definitely knows there is a hardware problem.)

The latest agents for ESX are 7.4.1, you may want to try updating the agents and see if there's any difference.
