ESXi 4.0 and HP SIM on a dl585 g1
i have fans running at full speed all the time.
i cannot find a way to slow them down.
i've installed esxi 4.0 from HP, which is supposed to include monitoring and control modules - but there is nothing there.
HP. please give us a walkthough installation, before i chuck the dl585 and go with a different manufacturer that supports what will be a very common OS - ESX.

Re: ESXi 4.0 and HP SIM on a dl585 g1
in HP SIM.
configure or repair agents
Installing Linux PSP or ESX Agents...
first hurdle was failing to get in via ssh.
solved that by going to dl585 console, and pressing "alt-f1" then typing "unsupported" then logining in. edit /etc/inetd.conf to remove hashes before ssh entries. find and HUP the inetd process.
next hurdle is:
"Could not locate Linux agent package for Operating System unknown."
this is the HP version of esxi 4. nice work, HP.

Re: ESXi 4.0 and HP SIM on a dl585 g1
HP ESX agents not supported on ESXi 4.0 and cannot be installed from HP SIM configure or repair agents.
From VMware hardware support, the DL585 G1 is not in the supported list for ESXi 4.
