Event Notifier is not sending any emails

I have HP Sim 4 installed on one server. I installed the Mgt Agents from the SmartStart CD version 7.00

All my other DL380 servers are setup to send email through the Event notifier.
However I am not receiving any emails. The HP Event Notifier Service is Running. I have inputted the corrected SNMP address for the exchange server and given 3 correct email addresses.

Why is this not working.

The Event Notifier is not required if you're using HPSIM. You can get HPSIM to Notify you instead.
On one of the Remote Servers, check the SNMP Trap Send address is the HPSIM Server.
On the same server, run up the HP Management Agent GUI from Command Console, there's a Send Trap button there. Send a Trap.
HPSIM should generate a Major Alert.
From HPSIM, go to the Options / Events /Automatic Event Handling / New Task.
Set up a new task to e-mail on Major Alerts.
Also check HPSIM is set up, similar place, just enter the FQDN of your e-mail Server. The Sender address can be just something descriptive.
Repeat the SNMP Trap test - you should get an e-mail. Configure the Event Notification to reflect what you want.

Thanks for the inforamtion. My only problem now is that I can no longer open up my HP SIM. It is not working since the most recent Windows updates...any ideas.

If you're running HPSIM 4.0 or 4.1 and you've not installed the SP1 patch, and by recent updates you include the not so recent MS04-025 patch then yes. The answer is get the SP1 update for HPSIM.

You might also want to consider upgrading to the new and improved HPSIM 4.2 which doesn't need the patch.

Hi.

I have upgraded to HPSIM 4.2 and followed your instructions in your first reply.

I just wanted to send the test SNMP trap from the HP Management Agent but I can't find where to do it from...

I, too, am having problems with HPSIM 4.1 not sending emails after the server (hosting SIM) has been online for several days+weeks.

I stopped and restarted the HP Insight Manager Service hoping it would send out the "cached" snmp events, still no email.

How can I temporarily fix this issue without having to reboot the server or upgrade to v4.2 ? (at this point in time)

I forgot to add one thing to my previous response:

All server snmp events are collected, this appears to be working properly. SIM is no longer sending email messages regardless if event is critical, major or minor.
