Flood of event notification via email for same event

All,

How do I prevent multiple of email notification for the same event that occurs?

I configured the automatic event handling for critical, major, minor and normal event and for action I selected to send snmp traps and email. I tested the event by degrading the raidset and I received lots of emails for the same event and every message is 5 minutes apart.
