Fun with the new JRE

Hi All,
I've installed JRE 1.5, works okay with HPSIM 4.1 with IE. Seemed a bit slow at first but now seems okay.
Mozilla Firefox doesn't even start, it gets hung up saying there's no JRE. Mozilla Firefox works okay with various versions of 1.4.
Interestingly if you browse directly to the agents and go to a page with the threshold sliders on it quite happily fires up the 1.5 JRE so it seems to be an issue with the JRE check in HPSIM Login.

Anyone played around with JRE 1.5 and Mozilla Firefox and got it to work with HPSIM?

A Java idiot here...

Could you explain to me what the JRE is?

Is it the same as Java VM?

Where can I find a list of new "features" of the 1.5 package?

Java Runtime Environment, also known as the Java Virtual Machine.
Just go to the Sun Java site, I don't have a ready reference for the 1.5 documentation.

Re: Fun with the new JRE

Got some other Problem with the JRE 1.5 and IE6 from the W2k3 Server. I can set the Mark to "Mark all Events". But after this no options like delete or clear are availible. if i unmark one event und mark him again and set the "Mark all events" again ....like magic you can now clear or delete.

Funny little thing *g*

Perfomance of JRE1.5 is in my case not realy slower or faster than the older 1.4.xx, but more colours and effects must be such an important feature *g*.

Re: Fun with the new JRE

I'd noticed that behaviour.
It's not all the time.
Yeah, getting those little Java graphics in is where the effort has obviously gone 8-)
