Re: Getting an Insight Agent on a Workstation?

Hi Lisa.

Server agents won't work because they need a management processor AFAIK. However you can install the workstation agents (even if it is not a HP workstation, I did it on Dell Optiplex.). But they won't provide as many information as a server agent can do.

These agents are not on the lastest SmatStart CDs, but you can find it on the Management CD 6.30 or look for SP22909.EXE at HP.

Lisa, please see this thread:
http://forums2.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=634024

"First of all, the Insight agents for clients are end of life as of 12/03 and are no longer being updated. No work is going on to qualify them for use with hpSIM.

The prescribed method of desktop management is HP Client Manager: http://www.hp.com/go/easydeploy and in the future there will be a plug-in to link this with hpSIM."
