GPO's and managed servers
Hi All,
(This is a long one so bear with me)
Scenario: Active directory structure 2003, A particular OU & Child OUs for member servers.
HP SIM 4.1, Management agents 7.00.
When I access a managed server either via HP SIM or localhost:2301 and login the process takes ages and it does not give me the full view of all agents status on the home page and . The only thing that shows is the version control agent.
When I click links on the side i.e. Insight Management agents the following error error appers - "HTTP Status 404 Not found"
Now when I remove the a server from the hierarchy or block inheritance, I am able to access the agents page at normal speed and all integrated agents are accesible so it is obviously a GPO issue.
Question: Does anyone know of any GPO settings that would/could directly affect management agents.
I have printed out Resultant Of set of policy for for two servers (one with policy and one without) but no joy with indicating a difference as of yet.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Joe

Re: GPO's and managed servers
I'm not an AD expert but I'm not sure where AD would feature.
Delays in returning a page can be DNS related. Where I've had problems with the display only showing the VCA I've often fixed by just restarting the Agents.
You could try downloading the latest softpaq, 7.10A, configure and deploy that to a test Server.
Check that you have the correct SNMP community settings.
Then check by maybe using the direct https://localhost:2381 from the server or https://Server:2381 from your desktop.

Re: GPO's and managed servers
Thanks Rob,
The SNMP settings issued by group policy and the one on the management agents was inconsistent.
Everything displays now.
Thanks again
