Hard Drive Firmware Upgrading in SIM

With the recent advisor for failing SAS drives (Link below) How come HP SIM doesn't allow for upgrading Hard Drive firmware using Software Updating (VCM)?

Not officially responding for HP now so things may have changed though I don't think so yet as I'm also interested in this issue, but I had the same question with their support a while ago and their response back then was something along the line that it is currently not technically possible to perform hard drive firmware upgrades while the disk is active, it was said it required a boot from Firmware CD.
