Hi all,
I am currently using SIM 5.2 SP2.
Some of my servers are showing major and some minor hardware status.
I repaired all the events in IML and it fixed some, but not all servers.
I still have a few that are reporting wrong status. I suspect it has something to do with the iLO.
Not all servers are connected to iLO NIC, but those who are not connected are configured to ignore iLO status.
Would be grateful for any advice.
Leonid.

Re: Hardware status is wrong - SIM 5.2
Thank you so much...
Changing the data source from WBEM to SNMP in the SMH did show me the reason for the errors.
- The iLO is disconnected.
The thing is, in the latest version/s of SMH you can actually set it to ignore alerts and then you get the green and peaceful homepage. However, the SIM monitors the SNMP as well, which reports once again that there is a problem. So - this is the source of the problem.
The workaround is to disable the iLO on servers which are not using it as is.
In order to disable it, you can:
- Use the prompt during the server restart
- Use a simple script to disable the iLO (attached). In order to use the script, you will need a functioning iLO config utility, which includes the iLO management driver, the util itself and perhaps the insight foundation agents. I installed all. The syntax of the command is:
hponcfg.exe /f iLODisableScript.xml
After that, you should get: "script successful". Next, go to the SMH, change the data source to SNMP (if unresponsive, restart HP services), reload the SMH and go to the management processor. Choose "reset integrated light-out".
Thats it.
In case of any trouble afterwards, use the hp management agents control panel util to reset the SNMP thresholds status.

Re: Hardware status is wrong - SIM 5.2
One more thing:
This solved all my problems, except one server who insisted on minor hardware status. It was solved by deleting this server from the SIM and rediscovering it once more.
Have a good time :)
