have Storage arrays send SMNP traps instead of commandview

Is it possible to have the storage arrys send the traps to SIM instead of command view?

Re: have Storage arrays send SMNP traps instead of commandview

HP SIM requires SMI-S in order to work with networked SAN storage. CommandView fulfills the role of SMI-S provider. SMI-S is the storage implementation of a WBEM provider and is superior to SNMP in many ways, including security, guaranteed delivery of events and a comprehensive view of the array.

A long time ago there used to be something called the StorageWorks SNMP "steam" agent. It had to be run on each server that had access to the SAN and really could only report on the part of the array presented to that specific server and couldn't see the SAN as a whole. You couldn't see the big picture, just what was visible through a variety of peepholes. CommandView provides a comprehensive view not only of the hardware but also of allocated and unallocated storage and provides it to HP SIM.
