Health Status - Major for unconnected NICs how to "clear" this?
For all the NICs which are unconnected is there a way to "clear" this condition? It is not a health status issue and definetly not a hardware issue, why does it show up in the first place? Since these servers come with more NICs than necessary and I left the unneeded ones unconnected, almost all my servers show up with a health status problem.
HP SIM version: hpsim-C.05.01.00.00-1
Thanks in advance!
James

Disable the unconnected NICS (we do that with unused ports as well) and the problem will go away.

Re: Health Status - Major for unconnected NICs how to "clear" this?
Thanks for your reply! How exactly do you disable them? I took one NIC for example and verified that it is not connected anywhere, did an ifdown but still shows as "failed".

Re: Health Status - Major for unconnected NICs how to "clear" this?
You have not mentioned the Server Type.
Try going to RBSU/BIOS, under System options... there should be an option to disable the embedded NICs.
Refer RBSU user guide:
h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00191707/c00191707.pdf
If u do not need to monitor the NIC
subsystem then you can use the HP Management Agents applet to disable the NIC agents.
Cheers
