Help SIM/SMTP/TRAPS/Power and Rack
On server running Rack and Power the following are set:
SNMP service (Traps)
Community name used on SIM machine set and SIM machine set in Trap destinations.
SNMP service (security)
Accept SNMP from the SIM machine
SNMP Trap service running.
Inside Rack and Power application
Setting/SNMP Traps - SIM machine name and IP listed
ON Server running SIM:
SNMP (Security)
Accept SNMP packets, Rack and Power server (IP added).
Inside SIM set up Automatic Event handling task with the following:
'Select systems where WEB AGENT is HP RACK and Power'
I am sending test traps from Rack and Power server application and SIM machine doesnt seem to be recieving it or Ive set up the wrong type of event. Some pointers would be good.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Help SIM/SMTP/TRAPS/Power and Rack
Jim, thanks for that. Ive covered all the points raised in that manual by gleaning it out from other sources. It would have been very helpful in the beginning and would have saved me a little time but thanks anyway.
So the situation is that I can get the machine hosting HP RPM to send traps to the machine hosting SIM and for SIM to see them. This is when the test traps are sent using 'Control Panel/HP Management agents'. I cannot get the SIM machine to see SNMP traps when sent from within HP PRM console.
Any ideas?
