How do I stop hardware status showing minor with 'Tape Drive Heads Need Cleaning'
Hi,
When I look at the Minor Hardware Status catagory we have a lot of servers that are showing 'Tape Drive Heads Need Cleaning'.
Does anybody know if it is possible to stop this from happening or change the severity of it to informational?
I have been through all of the .mibs and have changed some to be 'informational' but no joy.
I am using HP Systems Insight Manager 4.2 with SP1
Cheers,
Steve

Re: How do I stop hardware status showing minor with 'Tape Drive Heads Need Cleaning'
The tape drive heads need cleaning comes directly from the tape drive itself. I have looked for a while and have not found any way to stop the message because it comes from the device rom.

Re: How do I stop hardware status showing minor with 'Tape Drive Heads Need Cleaning'
Steve,
You might be able to turn these off using the "HP Management Agents" applet in the control panel on the managed servers.
I am not sure which particular agent to disable - it might be the "Storage Remote Alerter" but you would have to experiment.
A use a similar technique to quiet fiber cards when they are not yet connected to any SAN disk. Once the SAN disk is finally assigned to the servers, I re-enable the "Fiber Array Information" agent. Otherwise I get a bunch of "Yellow" servers in SIM - I like to see all green!
