How to create performance thresholds

All-

I am now managing several HP servers thru SIM. Now, I need to create performance alerts for: Memory, CPU, up/down and Disk.

How do I go about of doing that? does anyone have documentation on how to do this?

thank you!!

Re: How to create performance thresholds

This explains how to set disk and CPU thresholds.

The page file settings can be set through the server section on the homepage.

Re: How to create performance thresholds

There's two mechanisms at work and it pays to understand the difference.

For thresholds, and component breakages HPSIM relies on an SNMP Trap being sent from the server to HPSIM. So the Trap destination needs to be set. The event is generated from the sent trap.

Outages are picked up by the polling process so it is HPSIM itself that generates the event.

You then have an event handling task, a simple one is to just e-mail on every critical and major alert.

To test, go to the HP Management Agents GUI under Control Panel and use the Trap Send button.
If all is set correctly this should generate a Major Event and you should get an e-mail.
