How to prevent tempdb log grow too much?

I have a hpim version 5.0 running on MSDE. Recently, the templog.ldf will grow to around 9gb in a day which consume all disk space and corrupt the system.
I want to know why this grow so much and how to prevent it grow suddenly.

We are now monitoring about 460 servers and with 6000+ event cumulated
