HP Insight/ Sys Management Homepage/ Agents causing a general network error on 6x SQL Servers!?

Hello all,
We encountered a very weird phenomenon with six of our DL380-G3 DB servers. We recently installed and patched the HP’s using the ProLiant Support Pack for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (v7.40a). The main system we used to monitor the system was the “HP System Management Homepage”, and all it’s agents.

Hardware spec is dual 3.2GHz Xeons with 10-12GB of RAM. Services running before we traced the problem to the HP Insight agents were:
HP Insight Event Notifier
HP Insight Foundation Agents
HP Insight NIC Agent
HP Insight Server Agents
HP Insight Storage Agents
HP ProLiant Remote Monitor Service
HP ProLiant System Shutdown Service
HP System Management Homepage
HP Version Control Agent
HP Version Control Repository Manager

Since we installed the ProLiant Support Pack for windows we started receiving the following error: “[DBNETLIB][ConnectionRead (recv()).]General network error. Check your network documentation. (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server, -2147467259)”. This had a severe impact on our servers (product). The error was randomly reported on different times with different intervals!

We are running Windows 2003 (no SP1!), SQL 2000 with SP3a. At first we could not make the connection to the HP agents, until we found it by mistake. We reinstalled the HP support pack, and noticed that one of the services (don’t remember which) used %30-%50 CPU from some reason! We immediately disabled all agents, and the problem with the SQL disappeared! We are now running only the following services:
HP Insight NIC Agent
HO Insight Storage Agent
HP ProLiant System Shutdown Service

Any ideas why the HP will slow the system in such way? Did we configure it wrong? Do we need the HP System Management Homepage? Only thing I care about is receiving messages when a SCSI disk dies! We have almost 30 Dell servers with OpenManage running on them and no errors what so ever! Could it be the HP messed up on this one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
E.

This thread talks about the CPU utilization that you are talking about:
