HP ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000

I am successfully using HP SIM and have several servers being managed through it. In particular I have a ProLiant ML370 running W2K server which at one point had a dual channel wide ultra3 scsi controller installed. HP ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI Controller Driver for Windows 2000 5.0.2195.6655 was the installed version. The controller has since been removed from the server and redeployed. When I try and ungrade the agents to 7.10A, the relevant service pack reports that the software for the controller is installed and will not be updated - this is showing as a minor error on the dashboard. Is there any way to remove the 5.0.2195.6655 driver from the server so that the version control agent reports as ok?

I've got the same issue...no matter how many times I try to install it it says that it is not necessary. Here is the output of the install.

Setup Session Beginning 11/24/2004 - 14:38:58 PM
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Command Line Parameters Given: /silent

Name: HP ProLiant 64-Bit/66-Mhz Dual Channel Wide Ultra3 SCSI
Controller Driver for Windows 2000
New Version: 6.1.645.100

Beginning Silent Session...

The software is currently installed, but does not need to be installed on
this system.

Current Version: 5.0.2195.6655

Installation will not continue.

It's an issue where hardware has been removed. The Driver cannot be deleted as there's no device associated with it. The only way in the Windows GUI that I know of is via the Device Manager GUI.

You might have more luck trying to use Google to see if there are ways to remove non-used drivers from a Windows System.
The Agent installs are just trying to do their job, they detect you have the driver installed but also correctly detect that it's not needed.
It would be nice if the VCA also correctly assessed the driver was not required.

It actually looks like it has to do with the Adaptec 29160 SCSI card...the driver gets confused and wont update the Adaptec driver...This issue appears in all our backup servers that currently have the Adaptec card in them. Unfortunately I wont be able to get rid of the minor VC agent issue...wish HP would fix this or allow it to sense and bypass the adaptec driver...

You can delete unused drivers under Windows 2000 Server with the Hardware Assistent. You say "removing/uninstalling a device" and the set the point "show hidden or unused" and then you can uninstall also old drivers, wich are not in use any more.
