HP SIM 4.1 Stopped Sending SMTP Messages
Without having to restart the server, how can I get HP SIM 4.1 to start sending smtp messages? Is does this from time to time and I'm not sure why and I have already tried restarting all the services that HP SIM uses.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: HP SIM 4.1 Stopped Sending SMTP Messages
Sounds obvious but ;
A/ Is SMTP Service running and set to auto matic?
B/ have you checked your SMTP Host setting ( In email settings) is correct. Mine stopped working because one of the network engineers changed the Organisations SMTP server without telling me.
c/ Your clients all have to have the event notifier set up also which gives parameters like smtp mail server and group email address.
regards

Re: HP SIM 4.1 Stopped Sending SMTP Messages
We are experiencing a similar issue. For some reason the SMTP alerts stop, until we reboot the server.
This is what we found so far. We are using an Exchange 2000 server as the SMTP server for SIM. We schedule the server to reboot every Sat. On Mon. we come in a find that the e-mail alerts are no longer working. We try to telnet the Exchange server from the SIM server using telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25. It times out. This comand works fine from workstations and other servers. After a reboot of the SIM server, the alerts work again.
I believe the problem is that an SMTP connection is trying to be established when the server is off line, and refuses to give it up. Then no other SMTP connections can be made, until a reboot clears it out of memory.
I opened a call with HP Support, but I don't know how to resolve.
