HP SIM 4.1

Do you need to install HP SIM on all Windows servers on your network, or can you use one server with HPSIM installed and then connect to each of the servers from here.

Will this central server be able to send alerts for all the server?

Thanks

Re: HP SIM 4.1

Hello

HPSIM must be installed on one server wich then act like central management server. The other servers must have installed HP Insight Management Agents and Version Control Agents.

From HPSIM you can connect to all server wich have agents.

Central server will send alerts for all servers in your management domain.

I.

Re: HP SIM 4.1

I now want to install the agents on the clients.

Can you tell me where I can find the software for the agents for Windows 2000/2003 servers?

Does it matter that I am using HP SIM 4.1?

Thanks again for your help

Re: HP SIM 4.1

Hi,

When I try to install the agent on the other servers I get the message that is attached.

When I try to install the system management drivers on the system, I get an error to say that it is already installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: HP SIM 4.1

Well just to ensure we've got the bsics here.
Are the other Servers HP?

How were the Servers built? if they don't have the System Management Drivers I'm guessing that they were not built with smart start.

Providing these are HP Servers You will need to install the entire Softpaq.
Download the appropriate softpaq for the OS.
Run setup.exe, downloaded with the softpaq and then configure the Agents. Then from the same utility you can Select a Server and push the entire softpaq onto that Server.

Re: HP SIM 4.1

Yes all the other servers are HP. DL140's and Dl380's.

I will look at installing the softpaq for each server and see how I get on.

Re: HP SIM 4.1

The DL1xx series does not support full IM integration. I don't think you can install the agents on them.
Check the HP page for the specifications though.
