HP SIM 5.0 discovered all computers in the domain

My SIM server for some reason discovered all the computers in my domain and now I have over 6500 systems in my database which makes it very hard to monitor since most of them have been discover as servers and they are not. Does anybody knows how could I avoid this??

Thanks in advance

Hi Jose,

Couple of things:

1) You could have auto-discover enabled and somehow got all your IP subnets in your list for the discovery.

2) You have SNMP enabled on all your workstations to send traps to your SIM server. Then you would need the "Automatically discover a system when an event is received from it" option checked which would basically add any system to SIM that it receives a trap from.

3) Your were sleep-admining and added all your workstations to SIM during a fitful night of rest. :)

So empty your database.

Configure automatic discovery to be a more limited range that your servers are located in.

or

Disable automatic discovery altogether and just add systems manually (thats what I do)
