HP SIM 5.1 Does not email HDD failures?
I have HP SIM 5.1 SP1 installed on a desktop running XP.
I have it setup to email via SNMP when the servers are unreachable and that works very well. I am noticing that when there are hardware problems I am getting no notifications and the HPSIM does not show any issues? Is there something that needs to be installed on the HP servers that I am missing?
I have installed the HP manager agent on the server but still nothing. I have a bad drive to play with but I get no alerts when the good drive is removed or the bad drive is put in.
I am not sure what I am missing, I thought I configured the snmp traps correct but like I said in the SIM itself I dont see any type of failures listed (which I think would have to happen before a message would even be generated)
One thing I have gotten to work on the server is the HP management agents/event notifier config application. I have set this up correctly and it does email me when I take the good and bad drive out for instance.
Is this the proper practice, to have the event notifier run on the server and the HPSIM to alert you when there is a severe problem only?
I was under the assumption that HPSIM would handle it all.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Re: HP SIM 5.1 Does not email HDD failures?
only thing that may mean something is under MP I have an (I) and under PF I have an (?)but everything is showing as normal.
Also on configure and repair agents on step 3 I left everything as default except the read community string which I unchecked.
Thanks!
