HP SIM 5.1

HP SIM 5.1

1) How do I configure HP SIM 5.1 to send me an email when specific events happen on a server specifically hardware events. For instance, a hard drive failed on one of our servers but it does not show in HP SIM as a critical problem. I would like to configure it so that it does, and also sends an email to me.

2) How do you add items to the Version Control Repository Manager (VCRM)? For instance if I want to add a firmware update and push it out to my servers, where do I add it and how?

3) Are you able to disable certain events from reporting to HP SIM 5.1 or at least change their classification from critical problem to minor problem?

4) How do I update all my servers Insight Management agent and homepage without going to each individual server and updating them from the cd?

Any help or insight on any of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: HP SIM 5.1

I've tried the automatic event handling but it doesn't give me the results I am looking for. I want all hardware events to report to HP SIM as critical events, they are only reporting as informational events right now, how do I change that.

1# This way:
Select name>use event attributes that I will specify>Where..Event Type..PRoliant Storage Event(Select the Type Or Types)>Select system collection (Select the groupe or a specific system or systems )>Select actions (email+what ever action you want)>Select time filter ( i never use it)>)(MAKE SURE YOU RE SMTP IS CORRECTLY CONFIGURE)else EDIT EMAIL SETTING>FINISH

4# Is an Easy one..HP sim MENU>Deploy>Deploy Driver,Firmware and Agent>Install Software and Firmware>(a new windows should pop up)>(Select the serveur you want to send the software you to install)>Take...Server...Microsoft Windows Server 2003...>Bla bla..(select the one you want ,you can take one or multiple software to install you choice)>(I would take check this option ONLY)-Bring systems to full power before the install...RUN NOW( you could scedule it for period of time .

Please do not forget to apply you're point for every message, these points are next to every message, now there should be UNASSIGNED,thank you and have a nice day.

Re: HP SIM 5.1

Talked with HP tech support, I didn't configure the SNMP protocol correctly. Solved all my problems.
