HP SIM and PC's

I used to monitor all my PC's in CIM 7.0 and there were Insight agents for all the HP PC's etc.
However in SIM I have proliants, blade enclosures, switches, ups and other gadgets working ok but PC's are an unknown type.
Also I dont see Insight agents for newer HP PC's like the DC7600. I remember reading something about HP Client manager (altiris).
This makes me suspicious that HP have ditched PC support in SIM.
Can anyone tell me how I monitor PC's these days? Or have I just stuffed up the agent setup.

Cheers

Simon:

Compaq Insight Agents for Clients are no longer updated for new models and are no longer supported.

The prescribed method for managing HP business desktops and notebooks is HP Client Manager, a free tool based on Altiris technology. A bridge, HP Client Manager Connector for HP SIM, is also available for free download so you can consolidate your views.

Alternatively, you can use HP SIM's ability to work with WBEM/WMI to collect data from your client systems and SNMP for status polling without agents.

Re: HP SIM and PC's

David, there is a problem with using wbem with HP SIM. I have a call logged with support but have not heard from them in some time now on this issue. I have emailed the person handeling that call with no reply.

I have seen a couple other threads on here with people having the same issue with wbem and HP SIM as well so I now know I'm not the only one having this issue.

I would rather use WBEM to manage my pc's rather than the altiris client mostly because I would rather be able to autodiscover everything on my network rather than have to install an agent on every machine so it would be nice if this problem could be acknowledged and resolved.

The problem I am talking about is that all WMI managed systems show up as unmanaged or unknown in HP SIM. If the pegasus WMI mapper is restarted, then 4 or 5 systems can have an identify system task run on them and it will work for a short time. If a discovery is run or another identify systems task on these systems at a later time howevery they will revert back to unknown or unmanaged.
