HP SIM and Underscore characters

Interesting situation, which I suspected would cause problems from the start.

I am rolling out HP SIM 4.2 in an environment solely based on Windows Servers, NT4, W2K and W2K3. In history there are about 20 servers, which have an underscore in their name. This wasn't set up by myself and I know underscore causes issues with DNS resolution. However no chance of changing these as they are all Exchange servers, so 20 Exchange rebuilds are not really feasible.

I have found that with Insight Management Agents V7.10 deployed on the managed servers, I get the following text.

"This browser is not going to be able to log into the HP web-based management software on this system.

There are several possible reasons for this failure:
1. Cookies are turned off in this browser. Cookies must be turned on to login to the HP web-based management software.

2. The system date on the computer being logged in to is significantly different from the system date on the computer the browser is running on. The date on the computer running the HP web-enabled management software cannot be more than 7 days previous to the system date on the computer running the browser.

3. If the web enabled agents are being accessed from Insight Manager XE or Insight Manager 7 then the cookie being created by the web enabled agents is treated as a third-party cookie. The security policy settings for this browser may not allow third-party cookies and may need to be changed to allow third-party cookies to allow logging in to the web-enabled agents. In this case navigating directly to the device running the web-enabled agents will allow login without changing the security policy.

If these reasons are fixed or not applicable and this message is still displayed after refreshing the page please contact HP support for assistance in resolving the problem."

I can load a host file with a different name on the SIM Server and Management Workstation, but this still requires a login, manually even though the trust is configured.

Any body got any ideas of how I could get around this issue, or am I just going to have to let everybody live with it and dishout the local agent passwords (User, Operator and Administrator).

Suggestions welcome

Re: HP SIM and Underscore characters

Yes, go to Options --> Security --> System Link Configuration and change it to "Use the System IP address"

This is actually an IE problem. You can access those systems (by name) with Mozilla
