Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
I'd also check the Integrated management Log - either via the SMH or via the GUI.
Also note that if the server has an ILO Port that's not connected that'll flag a Major alert - that should be visible in the SMH though.

Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
The hardware polling task is running. I also ran it manually.
The Integrated Management Log is green when checked via the SMH.
I checked the HP Systems Insight Manager Audit Log. I'm not sure what to look for in there, or if it's what you meant by "GUI".
iLO is functioning properly.
The system is a ProLiant DL380 G3. Any other flags anywhere that might trigger this Health Status to go Major?

Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
From what you're saying it should be green. Almost like the polling task isn't actually communicating properly.
Another thing is to restart the agents, restarting snmp restarts everything and then restart the smh itself.

Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
I switched to SNMP Data Source in the SMH Settings and removed the "Remote Insight Information" Agent under "Control Panel" -> "HP Management Agents". After another Hardware Status Polling the red marks were gone.

Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
I reran the Identification task on my HP SIM server. Upon completion the Health Status remained Major.
I also restarted the SNMP service, and the Insight Management agents in turn. This also didn't affect the Health Status.
Leipold,
The iLO port is connected and functioning.
I removed the Remote Insight Information agent from the active Management Agents and then reran hardware polling on this server. This did not change the Health Status.
---
Another bit of information: my HP SIM server doesn't show any status for its Management Processor within the HP SIM systems listing. It's blank. This is odd since there is a Management Processor in this machine (DL380 G3), I can see it in the SMH. Could this be related to the degraded Health Status? What can I do about it?
I'd sure love to begin adding other machines to the HP SIM database, but I can't even get it to diagnose itself properly!

Re: HP SIM Health Status Major
I've reinstalled HP SIM after cleaning it off the system, as well as removing much of the HP software and utilities (Insight Management agents, etc.). After reinstall, I had green lights. I was able to locally install a ProLiant Support Pack (8.10) and stay green.
The missing management processor indicator for my HP SIM server was the result of the iLO IP not being added to the system catalog. I manually added the iLO of the HP SIM server and it is now detected as part of the big picture. I'm all green.
Thanks for the help tracking this down. We didn't get the real problem rooted out, but I have a much better understanding of HP SIM.
