HP-UX information about filesystems and processes
How can i get more information from an HP-UX system with snmp by using Insight Manager. Now i can only see the network interfaces. Can I monitor the HP-UX system with the help of snmp ? I would like to receive messages when filesystems become almost full. Do I need special MIB's ?

Re: HP-UX information about filesystems and processes
Hi
Can I monitor the HP-UX system with the help of snmp ?
=>Yes you would need to set up the snmpd.conf file as on a linux server with the proper infos such as trapdest , trapsink, rocommunity, rwcommunity, etc...
You will have to install wbem services for HPUX as well. Sysfault managenent is also needed. All these software can be downloaded from the hpsim website : http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/dl_hpux.html
I would like to receive messages when filesystems become almost full. Do I need special MIB's ?
=>No, simply use the EMS (event monitoring service)to set up these thresholds for filesystem usage. EMS will let you setup the threshold and the severity associated to the alert generated when passed. If snmp is properly configured to send out the trap to the HPSIM server, then you will start recieving these alerts quickly.
If you want to recive emails, you will need to create an task in events/ automatic event handling /new task.
