Re: HP VCRM setup

No, VCRM application was not opening at all. Anyhow, it's been decided to move test VCRM to prod. Just want to check if there is any readmade script available for VCA deployment on bulk servers including change agent settings.

Re: HP VCRM setup

Do you have VCA installed on the destination servers or not ? In other word do do update the VCA or is it a clean install ?

You can configure the VCA you plan to deploy from SIM. This includes VCRM server, username and credentials. The only thing you might need SIM for is to configure/replicatie the baseline info.

If you could respond to the questions i can help you deploy clean or update the VCA's in your setup.

Re: HP VCRM setup

VCA already installed on destination servers but that is old version and they are not getting connected to VCRM 7.4. Based on test result, it's been decided to update VCA on those servers to new version 7.3.5 (Win X86).If there is provision to update VCA on bulk servers using SIM then it'll be good.Pls share, if there is any document procedure for the same.

Re: HP VCRM setup

Hello again,

You should use HP SUM for remote updates. This can be done from HP SUM interface or any other deployment tool like Altiris and do a silent install.

If gou want to use sim you will run into problems as SIM uses an old version of HP SUM.

Re: HP VCRM setup

Can HP SUM interface software downloadable from HP site? If yes, Can you share the link. Can it be installed on HP VCRM server where there is no HP SIM running?

Re: HP VCRM setup

Sure, The link to download HP SUM can be found in the second tab in this post, but the link is : http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4194639&swItemId=MTX_06344ed833c145c7953... Or do you mean can HP SUM download a SPP from thje HP Website ? HP SUM is not somthing you install it runs for the period you want it to run. When the HP SUM application is started you can point to a directory where you store your SPP.

Re: HP VCRM setup

Didn't find HP SUM application at given link. I mean whether HP SUM can co-exist with HP VCRM on same server. The purpose of HP SUM will be anyhow used for remote VCA installation only.

Re: HP VCRM setup

The HPSUM program is not something you install but run when you need it. It does not use the same ports as the VCRM so running it on an VCRm server should be Ok. I've heard some problems running it on virtual but have not had the time to test that. The link i just followed : http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=4194639&swItemId=MTX_06344ed833c145c79539278025&swEnvOid=4064

Re: HP VCRM setup

Thanks for sharing the link, downloaded hpsum730.zip (113 MB) and extracted. There are about 20 items, not sure which is the file to be run?

Re: HP VCRM setup

Getting following error "An error occurred while formatting the page for display." on some servers while updating VCA 7.3.5.0. Tried restarting VCA service and uninstall/reinstall VCA but no use.

During the investigation, it has been observed that SMH is running with older version (below 3.x) on these servers. Didn't get this error on servers with SMH V3.x and above. Just want to check if SMH older version is really causing this issue? If so, can SMH version be updated? Will it ask for reboot?

Re: HP VCRM setup

You can use the HP SUM to push the updated SMH as the VCA no longer works. Most of the time you don't need to reboot. But there are cases where you need to uninstall the SMH reboot to cleanup the service and rest of the registry and do a reboot then do a clean install. But i would just give it a try. A normal update should not need a reboot.

Re: HP VCRM setup

SMH service is not getting started on few win2k3 servers after SMH update to latest version and showing the attached error while trying to start the service manually. Tried repair installation and uninstalling/reinstalling the same but nothing worked out, any idea how to fix this issue?Hp SMH Error.JPG

Re: HP VCRM setup

The only way i know how is to uninstall the SMH reboot and reinstall. This is a problem for most as they don't want to reboot their server to often.

So most people uinstall and wait for Windows updates reboot then as required and then install the SMH.

Re: HP VCRM setup

What is your hardware platform? Type ?

By the way you should open a new post instead of keeping this one open. Not for me but for people who search this forum i search of earlier answers.
