HPSim 5.0 Email Notification on a failed disk

Proliant ML350 g2.
Windows 2003 Server.
HPSim 5.0 Installed from Smartstart 7.4 distribution.

When a disk fails, the system will change the current HW state to degraded, however the event counter does not increment and no email is sent out. Other minor events on the same machine send email without any problems. The disk fail is noted under Windows event viewer. The problem is also evident on a customers machine.

I am downloading HPSim 5.0 SP2 today, with the intention of reinstalling this copy.

Does HPSim 5.0 SP2 overcome this issue or is there another fix???

Re: HPSim 5.0 Email Notification on a failed disk

Hi Trevor,

Make sure that you have compiled the latest set of MIBS for SIM. There are changes to the storage event traps and these MIBS are NOT included with 5.0. (I don't know if they are included with 5.2.)

Good luck,
- Steve

Re: HPSim 5.0 Email Notification on a failed disk

Hello Steve,

Fixed.......

Installed the latest mibs today, all ok.
Failed drives now report as a critical event with the associated email.

Thanks for the tip.

Kind regards, Trevor.
