HPSIM and duplicate blade racks showing up

I am running HP SIM 4.2 SP1 and am having problems with my latest rack showing up twice. All firmware on the PMM, ILO, and System Roms are up-to-date. When I go to view my racks I have a rack the shows up Rack3 as it should and another one that shows up as Rack3_EA0AJTK111. All of the snmp is configured correctly and identical on all the servers and ILO's. The EA0AJTK111 number is the serial number of one of the phase 3 power supplies.

All enclosure are running at 2.10, and the ILO's at 1.70. I have been all through everything and it still keeps showing up that way.

When you go into one of the racks it shows all the correct information, if you go into the other one it only shows the power enclosure and nothing else, or will show a plain gray box with a white line in the middle. It changes whenever I delete and re-add them back into SIM.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

All my other racks are fine running at the same firmware revisions and configurations.

Re: HPSIM and duplicate blade racks showing up

I saw that during installation.
Altiris recognized the rack ( enclosure, power supply, ...) during the time where it was not configured.
And it took Altiris hours to discard it until it saw the wrong old configuration the last time.

So sleep over it :-)

Re: HPSIM and duplicate blade racks showing up

This doesn't have anything to do with Alteris it is within HP Systems Insight Manager. You can view all of your blade infrastructure and for whatever reason one of the power enclosures thinks it is it's own rack.

All the cables in back are correct, I even reset the Power Management Modules and cannot get this to go away. I have seen this before when you don't configure the blade rack completely, but there is nothing configured wrong anywhere.

Maybe I will try pushing the latest rack infrastructure drivers to all the servers.

Since you have updated everything, delete those blades & iLo's from CMS and re-discover them to include the iLo's.

Chris Choate is mention a different problems which do not experience.

However my problem was solved after
a uninstall of the agents on the involved servers.
REboot
Deltetd the objects in Altirs
And a reinstallation of the Altiris Agents

Re: HPSIM and duplicate blade racks showing up

I completely rebuilt the SIM server as well as the database and I still have the same problems.

I am going to try reinstalling the agents on all the servers in this rack as well as going into the power management modules and retyping the serial numbers and saving it to see if that does it anything.

I have one of the HP SIM engineers looking into it as well, but so far everything he has mentioned is correct on our end. They mentioned something about spaces in the Enclosure names but we only have 2 enclosures in this rack and there are no spaces at all. We name them EnclosureA, EnclosureB and so on.

Re: HPSIM and duplicate blade racks showing up

I finally have good news. I upgraded all the blades in the Rack that I was having the issues with up to 7.20. After upgrading all the servers I deleted the bogus rack after the subordinate objects and it has not came back yet. I have been running for 4 days now without a reoccurance.

I was informed by a local HP engineer that there were several enhancements for the blades in the new PSP and he must have been right.
