Re: HPSIM Server is listed with incorrect name
I am experiencing the same issue only on Windows 2000 Servers, the problem appears to be when the server is located at remote sites. For example, if I manually discover the system using the IP Address, the server is displayed on the system list has the correct information, then I add another server and the previous server name gets replaced with the new server with a the IP address of the first server.
Does HPSIM have issues with DNS Name Resolution ? It doesn't appear to use WINS as a alternate name resolution like the old Compaq Insight Manager.
If anyone has experienced this issue and has a fix, please let us know.
Thanks - Scout

SolutionOn windows it is possible to override DNS by making entries in the hosts file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
You will then need to delete and rediscover the server.
SIM 4.2 will allow you to edit the system properties including the system name.

Re: HPSIM Server is listed with incorrect name
The best thing is to resolve any DNS problems. If your network administrator is incapable of doing so, override with the HOSTS file as Joel suggests.

Re: HPSIM Server is listed with incorrect name
I think the main problem I am having is the name on the certificate is wrong. It must of pulled the name from DNS (wich had a few machines with the same IP)
How can I change a certificate name?

Re: HPSIM Server is listed with incorrect name
However, is the problem that it is using the wrong hostname, or is it simply using an alternate hostname or address? I.e. servername vs. serveripaddress vs. 127.0.0.1? That used to be fixable; I suspect it still is with hp Systems Insight Manager 4.2.

Re: HPSIM Server is listed with incorrect name
However since I first installed HPSIM somehow the certificate got the wrong host name.
I would like to have the certificate report the correct name also. Is there a way to get it re-issued?
